Summer Thoughts

Classes are over...grades are almost in...this year went by in a whirlwind.
There is no accurate or good way to describe our collective experience of virtual learning this semester, but we all pushed forward and made it through. I am proud of everyone for making it through virtual learning and especially proud of the seniors for navigating this time with grace. Somehow it isn't still March and summer is upon us; God-willing the weather evens out soon.
Now we have to move on without the structure that school and virtual learning provided. We have to find a way to fill our days in this current world. I have found pleasure in going for walks and exploring parks, which is something I never had time for before. I have found great joy in seeing friends and loved ones even while maintaining social distance and mask-wearing protocols. These good times have not stopped me from having bad days and from not wanting to do anything at all on some occasions. Not every day will be great, but not every day will be bad either. I am encouraging you all and myself to take the good with the bad right now, and to not get mad at ourselves when we don't feel like we've been productive. While none of us know what this summer will bring and when an end to this stay-at-home order will come, that doesn't mean that we can't try and enjoy the sunshine and dance in the rain.
